1931
The sparsest year in the diary. JJL arrived in San Benito, Texas, on May 3 and went directly to the Hollingsworth Building.
I took the oath of office as Assistant Engineer, American Section, International Boundary Commission. (May 4)
From May through December, the entries are almost entirely work-related — daily tasks, personnel assignments, six-day work weeks. The transcriber, Bill Ledbetter, notes that almost no personal content was recorded this year. The IBC work on the Rio Grande would anchor JJL’s career for the next decade.
