Dorothy Marie Morris
1936
Dorothy Marie Morris was the only child of Robert Edward Morris and Lillie Lee Weston, born in 1936.1 Her father R.E. was the eldest of four Morris children — the son who inherited his father Jim Morris’s gold Elgin pocket watch when Jim died in 1925.
Dorothy grew up in the web of Morris, Thompson, and McAdams families that stretched across Walker County, Texas. Her grandmother Ethel Arrine Thompson and great-aunt Edna — identical twins who lived in side-by-side houses in Huntsville — were fixtures of her childhood world.
Family
Dorothy married Don Graef. They had two children: Randy Morris (born 1957) and Vondell Morris (born 1961).2
Through her aunt Margaret Alline Morris Craig, Dorothy’s family became connected to the Ledbetter line when Margaret’s daughter Barbara Jean McDuffie married William Burl Ledbetter in 1955.2
