James Walter Morris Jr. was born on June 5, 1921, in Huntsville, Texas, the youngest child of James Walter Morris and Ethel Arrine Thompson. He was three years old when his father died in 1925.1

Morris served in the United States Navy during the early 1940s. His Navy service photograph from around 1941 shows a young man ready for wartime duty.

Family

He married Jeanne McLean. They had three sons:1

  • James Walter Morris III (born 1948)
  • John Richard Morris (born 1953)
  • Joseph William Morris (born 1961)
