Thomas Jefferson Thompson
1865 – c. 1899
Thomas Jefferson Thompson was born about 1865, son of G. Cumberland Thompson and Arena Thompson of Mustang Prairie, Grimes County, Texas. He married Margaret Annaliza McAdams (“Tommie”), the daughter of John McAdams Jr. and Mary Frances Bankhead McAdams.1
Children
Thomas and Margaret had several children, including identical twin daughters born on September 30, 1890, at the McAdams Community in Walker County:
- Ethel Arrine Thompson — the first-born twin; married James Walter Morris
- Edna Alline Thompson — born about thirty minutes after Ethel; married Thomas Claud Roberts
- Alice Thompson
- Una May Thompson — married A. J. Sanders of San Antonio
- Jeff Olen Thompson — married (1) Evelyn Evans; (2) Mamie Lee Williamson Thompson
The twins were inseparable, always dressed identically, treated as a unit by their family and community.1
Death
Thomas Jefferson Thompson died when the twins were about nine years old — around 1899. After his death, Tommie’s mother, Mary Frances Bankhead McAdams (“Grandma”), moved in to help manage the household and the farm at the McAdams Community.1
