William Burl Ledbetter Jr. was the first child of William Burl Ledbetter and Barbara Jean McDuffie. His grandfather Col. John Jackson Ledbetter Jr. recorded the birth in the 1957 diary:2

William Burl Ledbetter Jr. Wt 7# born 6:00 p.m. at St David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas. 20½ in. height.

Family

He married Donna Glenn on August 20, 1978, in College Station, Texas. They had five children: Micah Reuben, Hannah Rebekah, Leah Rachel, Josiah James, and Noah David Ledbetter.1

The Family Record

In December 2008, Bill Jr. transcribed the diaries of his grandfather Col. John Jackson Ledbetter Jr. — thirty-three years of daily entries from 1928 to 1961. He also compiled JJLHIST, the genealogical record of the Ledbetter descendants that serves as a primary source for this website.1

Through his mother Barbara Jean, he is descended from the Morris, Thompson, and McAdams families of Walker County, Texas — a line that reaches back to John McAdams Jr., Texas Revolution veteran and founder of the McAdams community.1
